Biography

Shakil Mridha was born in a serene and picturesque village in Manikganj, a district near Dhaka city. From an early age, he was immersed in the tranquil beauty of rural life. The vibrant simplicity and the richly textured lives of the village people left a lasting impression on him as he grew up amidst nature’s quiet poetry.
He later pursued both his BFA and MFA in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. The memories of his childhood—the colors, rhythms, and scenes of village life—have become a recurring muse in his artistic journey.

Beyond the studio, he collaborates on significant art projects in Bangladesh, aiming to bring his modern folk artworks, rooted in the rhythms of rural life, not just to canvas or printmaking, but to a wider audience through diverse mediums. In Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited’s celebrated campaign ″Wrong Bodle Rongin Kori″, a monumental painting spanning 200,000 square feet was created on the ceiling of the Mohakhali Flyover in 2024. Among the two featured artists whose vibrant works brought this epic scroll to life, Shakil Mridha is one of them. The paintings on the flyover beautifully portray the rich culture and traditions of Bangladesh, bringing life into the city’s infrastructure. In addition, he also contributed to the same campaign by Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited during BPL 2025, collaborating with three other artists on massive wall paintings displayed at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
